| Representative David Swinford passed away on December 31, 2022 at the age of 81. He represented districts 87/88 from 1990- 2010. Representative Swinford was an outstanding voice for agriculture and a good friend to the cotton industry. He lived in Dumas, Texas when he served in the Texas House of Representatives. TCGA employees had the chance to participate in several “Swinford Shootouts” over the years in the Texas Panhandle. The organized pheasant hunt (fundraising event) drew legislators and agricultural leaders from all over the state.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Dumas, TX, 500 N. Maddox. Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Sunray Church of Christ. Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, TX.
